FirstRock’s recent name change gave us an idea on its future

FirstRock Capital Holdings Limited changed its name to FirstRock Real Estate Investments Limited (FIRTSROCKJMD) on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE), on July 26, 2022, with a celebratory name-changed function at JSE, 40 Harbor Street, Kingston.

The administrator of FirstRock Real Estate Investments Limited, Mr. Norman Reid, clarified for the crowd the business choice prompting the Company’s name change.

He previously complimented Dr. Street Forrest for exhibiting boundless insight with her remarks during the company’s underlying posting function, over two (2½) quite a while back, on February 21, 2020, when she exhorted the Company’s leaders that “The listing ceremony is but a journey and not the destination.”

Co-Founder and Director Dr. Michael Banbury, talked much the same way as the Chairman, “The name change plays an important role in our corporate strategy as we clearly delineate our different business lines within the FirstRock Group of Companies.”

This is not an unorthodox move for any company to change its name. Given the name change the keywords used in the new name such as “Real Estate” it goes to show where their future is pointing at.

Currently, the local real estate market is heating up, with Barita taking advantage of coastal assets and other incumbents in the space.
