Tech leaders are sounding the alarm over ChatGPT like models

Must Read

Currently, some tech leaders within the AI community are seeking a 6-month on research within the space of Natural Language Models. Recently ChatGPT released a new version of their system called ChatGPT-4, which is less than 6 months from the last publication.

This is incredible in the AI space and these systems are becoming capable of displacing a lot of knowledge workers in certain jobs currently.

This is probably one of the main reasons why some leaders in tech are seeking to put on a pause on everything.  Even though that has good intentions from a game theory perspective, it doesn’t look like it is practical at all given that global leaders are also caught in an AI race. If the United States pause, what does that say about China, Russia, etc?

In technology, leaps such as what is happening currently in the AI space is a quantum leap, similar to how technologies such as the internet, printing press, computers, etc changed the way how we work, AI will do the very same.

Another reason why the pause is not feasible is because of the implications for other companies in this super competitive space at the moment pouring billions into the market who wants to lead in this future space.

If a company such as OpenAI stops producing ChatGPT models what does that say about Google and others who are lagging behind, they might break the rules and want to catch up so it’s not going to be easy at all.

From my perspective I don’t see it stopping either, AI is our new reality, and we have to accept and embrace it. Too much is at stake at the moment for large tech companies to put a pause on technology as powerful as AI.
