CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 have now been delayed to 2022. Previously, the new-gen upgrades were slated to release in 2021.
However, due to reasons that have not been disclosed yet, the release has been pushed to 2022. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version of Cyberpunk 2077 was highly anticipated since the game had become quite infamous for its numerous bugs and glitches upon its first release.
Despite announcing that the new-gen versions of both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 would be released this year, suspicions arose when CD Projekt Red had little to offer in terms of new details on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S ports.
Till now, no new details have been revealed by CD Projekt Red regarding the new-gen upgrades. However, it is believed that Witcher 3 will have some fan mods as part of its enhancements, though no news has been revealed regarding the up-gradation of its six years old graphics.
After confirming the delay, CD Projekt Red has scheduled the release of Cyberpunk 2077‘s new-gen version in Q1 2022 and The Witcher 3 in Q2 2022. The developer firm was heavily criticized upon the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 as players were frustrated with innumerable bugs and glitches which led to a massive amount of refunds, ultimately the game was delisted from the PlayStation Store.
Hence, it’s prudent on the developer’s part to delay the release to ensure that a seamless version is launched this time to avoid any major backlash. However, the sudden news of the delay could have been avoided by providing any substantial and tangible development in the game that could have assured the fans prior to the release.
In the case of The Witcher 3, the DLC pack will now contain the Netflix-themed armor won by Henry Cavill’s Geralt and a few other items from the series.
