Top state leader, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, got this confirmation from the KSA’s Deputy Minister for Investors Outreach, His Excellency Badr Al Badr, during a business lunch meeting facilitated for a 65-part designation visiting Jamaica from the Middle Eastern state on Friday (July 8).

The lunch meeting was held at the Port Royal Cruise Pier in Kingston.

Mr. Badr emphasized that investments are among the engines of growth in any economy that can result in asset creation, “which leads to enhanced production, employment, and overall economic progress.”

“In essence, investments link the present with the future. That is why we wish to understand, in more detail, the investment opportunities here in Jamaica. From ready-to-go commercial opportunities and low-hanging fruit projects to long-term infrastructure [developments].

I… share our enthusiasm, passion, and commitment to building stronger and deeper investment, trade, and business links between Jamaica and Saudi Arabia.,” he added.

Noting that such activities “will help… us to further diversify and grow our economies and our private sectors and companies”, Mr. Badr said he was “especially pleased” to have led the delegation, the largest such investor group to visit the Caribbean.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness was pleased with the reception and expects things in the future. Mr. Holness told the delegation that Jamaica has multiple investment opportunities, “and [needs] partners to invest with us.”

He further informed that the Government has been building a solid economic platform, noting that, over the last decade, Jamaica has undergone a significant fiscal management transformation.

“So, we offer a very robust and very stable economic platform. We are an open… and… small economy. But with our strong fiscal positions, we have been able to withstand global shocks,” the Prime Minister assured.

Overall, it seems like it was an excellent trip. Hopefully deals solid deals were brought to the table and investment opportunities that will ensure it’s a win-win for both sides. Regardless, this is just an important step in the right direction which can prove to be important down the road if promises are fulfilled.
