Microsoft to pull Linkedin out of China as tensions between China and large companies continue to rise. This year we have seen the Chinese government take an iron fist toward tech companies and the elite. The world is still skeptical as to what is China’s main motive.
Probably the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has more tricks up its sleeves. Despite the move, there have been growing tensions between Microsoft and China, over the last two weeks, they decided to block the profiles of a group of US journalists in China.
LinkedIn released a blog post discussing certain intricacies of the matter. It’s clear that compliance was an issue that includes freedom of speech. Over the last year, the Chinese Government has been creating tighter laws that will allow them to have more control over the operations of foreign companies.
If you don’t want to comply, you can simply leave. That last statement of simply leaving is not easy for every foreign company especially if they can grow within certain markets.
It’s now a fact that China is seen as a growing economy. Foreign investors and entrepreneurs are often lured into the opportunity of capitalizing on the Chinese market. But it all comes at a cost and some business owners are not willing to take that risk. In 2010, Google had to pull its service from China after it came under an immense Cyber-attack. It is alleged that it was state-backed.
As the Chinese government starts to impose more laws upon the tech industry, look out for more events like these to happen.
