Daniel Sturridge Denied a £22,400 Reward to the musician who found his missing dog

0

Daniel Sturridge has taken to social media to refute claims he failed to pay a reward for the safe return of his missing dog.

It comes after a Los Angeles court ordered the former Liverpool striker to pay local musician Foster Washington 30,085 US dollars (£22,400) for finding the lost pet.

The Pomeranian, named Lucci, was stolen from a house in Los Angeles in 2019 with Sturridge pleading for the safe return and offering a reward on social media in July 2019.

Lucci was subsequently found by local musician Washington who shared pictures on social media and helped reunite the pair.

However, court documents have since revealed a default judgment was given against Sturridge after a claim was made the reward was not received.

Sturridge denies the allegations though, claiming others are ‘trying to benefit for their own personal gain’ and the Reward has already been paid to the rightful recipient.

US credit unions wait on approval to hold digital assets

1

US credit unions are waiting on approval from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) to buy, sell and hold digital assets. This move is a year late given the fact that banks were already approved to partake in such crypto activities a year ago.

NCUA stated in a letter that they are looking for the authority to connect members with third-party providers. Members, in this case, would be all 9,500 credit unions active within the USA.

“FCUs may continue to act as a finder to bring together their members and providers of third-party services, including services related to digital assets. As noted above, FISCUs should look to applicable state laws and regulations.

The Federal Credit Union Act (FCU Act) authorizes an FCU “to exercise such incidental powers as shall be necessary or requisite to enable it to carry on effectively the business for which it is incorporated.” Part 721 of the NCUA’s regulations implements the incidental powers provision of the FCU Act.”

Within the letter, the NCUA also talked about the everchanging crypto industry and the challenges this might have for regulators.

“As with other evolving technological changes, the NCUA acknowledges further guidance may be needed as questions continue to arise related to digital assets and DLT. This may include potential regulatory and statutory changes in the future. The NCUA encourages interested parties to contact the agency with suggestions that would provide further clarity and certainty.”

It’s only a matter of adaptation at this point, regarding credit unions. They see this as an existential threat and rightfully so, given the benefits of cryptocurrencies, if we take away the scams and hype.

Hopefully, they can get it approved. It will allow them to be competitive and widen cryptocurrency adoption in the short term.

Welcome to the Permissionless Era and what it means for you

0

Interesting times fellow entrepreneurs and working-class people. We are in an age where it’s getting easier to say what to do whatever we want to do, when we want to do it and how. This might seem a bit over the top but it’s true.

We are in an age where literally teenagers are becoming millionaires, persons are quitting there 9-5 and following their passion elsewhere while leveling up.

College and university graduates are realizing that 50% of degrees are a waste of time and instead of learning skills that are applicable for the future and can give them the freedom that they want for free.

Kids can earn millions playing video games that they never made. Persons can make 5 figures with nothing but a YouTube page and a voice-over actor talking behind a crappy image.

Lastly, I can send thousands of dollars to a friend across the world with just a wifi connection and a crypto wallet without regulatory approval in a matter of seconds.

It will only get weirder and wilder as the meta is being built. This will allow us to purchase digital assets without the approval of a regulatory body. We can then profit from it passively.

Permissionless

It’s an interesting time to be alive and we are living within it. It’s the era of the permissionless, meaning that we don’t need permission to do a lot of things that would’ve been a real pain and massive time sunk earlier.

For example, you can start an online business within a matter of minutes and earn money from it within months with the right strategy and target market.

No one ever gave you permission to do it, the resources are there such as the domain name provider, hosting solution to store the data: website, user data, etc. It will only take my time, effort, and creativity to handle the rest at a bare minimum. No licenses are required either to get the job done in the beginning.

If you want to start a YouTube page, you can do it and talk about a lot of topics. You can play video games all day and make money. This will only get easier, currently, developers are working on integrating cryptocurrencies within games.

Basically, this will allow you to play and earn. Axie Infinity is a game that comes to mind for this example and more is on the horizon.

You never need to approval of anyone to do these things, you just do it. The era where gatekeepers control a lot of access is slowly decaying.

Profit

It’s easier to profit in the permissionless era due to the boundaries that are now being stripped away. You can build a social media following and profit from it. Get an online business started: e-commerce, consulting, youtube, ebook, courses, software development, etc.

The opportunities are endless and you don’t need permissions. At one point you needed to go through publishers and suck up to their request and then you have to hire a marketing agency to do the marketing for you.

Now you don’t need that at all, you need a social media following, an amazon kindle publishing account, time, an idea, creativity, and effort. This will get you over 50% of the way. If you have a loyal following, you can get some pre-sales which will allow you to make money before the item arrives.

I see Jamaicans on YouTube creating interesting content which is attracting tourists to their local community to learn about their specific way of life. The government never funded them, No one gave them permission, they just got out their phones and start filming.

Raising Money

If you are smart and have an engineering mindset, you can use Kickstarter to raise money for your 3d product. Fitbit raised millions for their watch before it was even launched. No one gave them permission to create the product and they never had to go through a bank to get funding.

Another advanced concept is with initial coin offering (ICO). Basically, you can now raise money by creating a token within hours if you have the requisite skillset. You can then launch your coin, gain initial traction from your social media following then raise money with cryptocurrencies. You don’t need banks anymore.

Currently, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO) are being launched which are organizations not are being run by one powerful entity. The power is assumed to be shared across the community of investors.

They are now using DAOs to do real-world stuff such as raising money to purchase lands, fund real-world projects, etc. It’s pretty interesting and I did a post on it.

Education

If you want to learn a subject today, you can do it by using YouTube and doing Google research. You can even pay for courses on Udemy which cost between $20-200 on average (very cheap). These courses can help you to level up and learn web skills that can make you real money.

You can study on your own time and do it whenever and where ever. You don’t need anyone’s approval. Not so long ago, you have to go through school being taught by crappy lecturers and teachers who don’t really practice what they teach and are just doing it because it’s a job.

Just think about it, oftentimes they are teaching you something because they have to do it, not because they want to, but they have to. In order to earn money to survive.

Because of this, even if they are not passionate about the subject or knowledgeable, they still go ahead and teach hundreds if not thousands of students each year on a topic the wrong way.

Then when you fail at the subject, they say that you are stupid, lazy and unproductive. When the truth is that the teacher failed his students to begin with. He was just winging it along the way and who passes the test, just passes.

The Tides Have Changed For The Better

Now you don’t have to do that, with the right discipline and guidance, you can find mentors online who can help you and curate your own content and do your own educational training.

Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, etc offers thousands of courses each year for free. Otherwise from MIT, I don’t think that they want to do it, because if they wanted to, why didn’t they do it years ago?

It’s simple because the internet has driven down the cost of information dissemination to zero.

If you are living in a village in a remote country with average internet speed, you can become a mathematician, engineer, etc. The information is out there to do it for almost free if you know where to look.

I can go on YouTube and build a hydroponic system within a couple of days; the information is out there.

Media

When I was younger, I used to hate commercials and my movies that came after a program I was watching. I would be watching a documentary, for example, then the “Days of our Lives”, would come on television.

I still remember the soundtrack! Now we can watch whatever we want and curate our media within our own content bubble. Your inputs equal your outputs, you can program your mind to be elite if you curate the necessary information.

If you don’t like radio, you can listen to endless audio from your favorite podcasts on almost any topic: education, business, music, sports, technology, etc.

Are you a buttoned-up business-type person? you can use Linkedin and get certain information. If you like personal connections, you can use Facebook. If you want breaking news and like to stay up to date, you can twitter.

The options are endless and you can curate your own online environment. The way you want to and not what they think you wanted you to see.

Persons might counter this argument and say that big media is still manipulated today. Of course, big media is manipulated. We are not living within an internet utopia, but at the same time, we have choices if we are aware of them.

Connections and Networking

A couple of years ago, if you never had the money to travel for a business meeting, you would be losing out on millions of dollars in revenue. Now you don’t have to meet, you can wrap up a deal within minutes. Often times automatically if you use online platforms.

Once upon a time, if you were born within a village, you would stay there and never be able to connect with anyone from anywhere else, now that has all changed.

You can connect with persons and build up your social capital if that’s what you like. The barrier to entry within this region is almost inexistent.

Lifestyle

Our culture helps to shape us from our habits and overall lifestyle. Even though it’s a natural trait of us humans to be able to adapt to our environments.

It can prove to be catastrophic if we were born in the wrong environment. It’s not doom though, within this permissionless era, we can change our own lifestyle of how we want to live.

If we are surrounded by bad role models, we can mirror good role models online and act like them. Do you want to stay healthy? you can research different diet choices.

If you want to be financially free, you can follow Clarke and Cash or any other financial website on the internet. Life now is truly what you make of it.

In closing, we are living within interesting times. Take advantage of the thousands of opportunities out there, it’s there for the taking. No one has to give you permission either, you just have to learn about the different opportunities and tools available.

If you are reading this, you are early but remember that the best day to take action was yesterday.

Visa is expanding its cryptocurrency adoption with partnerships

1

Global payments company Visa is not shying away from cryptocurrencies like other old and archaic counterparts. Not to call any company out, but they know themselves.

Currently, Visa is using partnerships as a strategy to push growth within this sector. It will help to provide reliable solutions for its consumers. A partnership is a key strategy for businesses these days.

A couple of decades ago, it was mergers and acquisitions, that has cooled a bit over the last couple of years. With partnerships, a business doesn’t have to build everything in-house which can be costly and expensive.

Instead, they can partner with startups and established companies that have expert persons at the helm and can help them solve complex solutions. It’s a win-win solution for both sides in a once-cut-throat business environment.

Currently, Visa has partnered with many different crypto platforms such as Coinbase, Binance, crypto.com, etc. This will allow everyday consumers to participate in basic financial activities such as buying goods and services with cryptocurrencies.

Positive Returns

The initiative seemed to be working out just fine for Visa, as Sheffield, Visa’s head of crypto said in an interview that they had purchased over $3.5 billion worth of crypto transactions on their platform so far.

“That’s a small portion of total spend on Visa cards, but when you consider that these programs didn’t exist in a meaningful way a year ago, it’s an indication that they’re starting to gain traction.

At the end of the day, we want to serve as a bridge connecting the crypto ecosystem with our global network of 80 million merchant locations and more than 15,000 financial institutions.”

This is net positive news for Visa, being a first-mover within this industry, especially as an “old financial brand”, will allow them to reap benefits down the line. They just have to continue pushing the boundaries with this technology and don’t be afraid to take risks.

How to Boost Your Business With Online Content

1

With the Internet, reaching potential customers has become easier than ever before. Search engines, social media, podcasts, and video gives your company access to a massive market of consumers.

One of the best long-term methods to reach that market is through publishing content online. Content published online builds your company’s authority, brand awareness, and sales.

By reaching communities through content, your business can create brand advocates who will purchase your products for years, as well as recommend your products to their friends and family. They might learn from your blog or social media content, share your products with their followers, or make a purchase when you announce a new product line.

Content helps your business get:

  • Increased exposure
  • Stronger brand awareness
  • Visibility and authority

Content is the versatile engine to run the online marketing of your business.

Here’s what you need to know when publishing content online:

  1. Lead with value – Giving value (free information, advice, tips) builds the credibility of your business and keeps your company at the front of consumer’s minds.
  2. Map the customer journey – Content marketing is storytelling that brings customers through different stages:
    • Awareness – This is the stage when potential customers learn about you and your business. Lead customers from this “Awareness” stage to the next stage with a call-to-action to subscribe to your newsletter.  At this stage, the content can be:
      • Tutorial (from search like Google or Pinterest)
      • Viral post (something people will share or retweet)
      • Expert content or analysis reports
    • Consideration – At this stage, potential customers already know about you and would consider buying from you. They are already in your circle. Content can be half educational and half promotional. You’ll reach customers at this stage via content such as newsletters, case studies, and podcasts.
    • Decision – At the decision stage, customers trust your business and are considering making a purchase from you. Content here isn’t to educate or build brand awareness. It’s to address the benefits of your products or services. At this stage, the call-to-action leads the customer to either make a purchase or start a free trial.
  3. Create a strategy – A strategy is essential to ensuring your team reaches your goals.
    • What is your goal when publishing content?
    • What is the monetization plan?
    • How are you going to achieve your goals?
    • For every platform, set an audience intent. Does your audience look at Pinterest for inspiration? Instagram for tutorials?
  4. Interact with your community – Use content as a way to interact with and engage your community! Make them feel like they are part of something. Create content that gets them involved with what you stand for. Post-community-generated content.
  5. Become a category leader – You can also use content to distinguish your business in your industry. How is your business different from the rest, and how can you create content that reflects that?
  6. Have a brand style guide that covers brand voice and tone – A brand style guide ensures that your team stays consistent when you publish. It can also be a frame of reference when you’re thinking about content ideas to publish.

When you are educational and helpful, customers move through the customer journey. When you go beyond publishing content about your products, customers start to see you as a part of their everyday lives beyond your products or services.

Social media gives us free access to a massive market. Through shareable content, you can build a timeless brand awareness that goes beyond the products you sell today.

An unfair world can be your greatest advantage

2

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!” ― Sylvester Stallone, Rocky Balboa

The world is unfair, the best doesn’t always get the promotion and the good doesn’t always win. In the movies, the heroes get to kill the villain. While, in the real world, the villain wins and then become heroes.

It’s just the way of life and it will not change one bit. The best we can do is adapt to it and stand our place within this world. Yes, we can sit down and curse the “system” and government all day.

It will not change a thing; we all know how pathetic they are in creating rules and policies for the greater good. Life is unfair and it will not get any easier as inequality is getting out of control and countries are destabilizing.

But in this perceived doom and gloom, there are opportunities to take advantage of.

Everyone is dealt a fair hand of unfairness within this world. Whether we have an illness, came from a poor socio-economic background, bad genetics along with the great equalizer we all must face at the end, death.

You are not the first and will likely not be the last person on earth to experience hardships. It’s a fundamental part of life and philosophers have gone to great lengths on talking about it.

Instead of complaining and whining about how bad our situation is, we just have to deal with it. During this pandemic, I have seen a lot of complaining, “government never gave me any handouts”, “I don’t have any money”, “The country is sh*t” etc.

While they might be completely valid, it is a waste of time as we are living in an age where if you are not “lazy” and have the ability to do basic computer skills, you can make it within 5-10 years of focus and relentless work.

It’s happening all around us and wealth is being created daily. Generational wealth in fact is being created right now. It’s a period filled with unpredictability but at the same time, we will eventually get over this period unless something catastrophic happens such as a devastating extinction event.

The likelihood of that happening is quite off the mark at this point, so we might as well adapt or die.

At Clarke And Cash, we believe that persons should zoom out of the matrix: media, negativity, over consumption, etc, and see that the world is changing and if they are not willing to adapt, natural selection will take its course.

Nobody Cares About You

No one is going to help you unless you help yourself. Don’t look for government to help you or power hungry politicians. Especially if you don’t have anything of value to add to this world at the moment.

You need to learn real skills and work on yourself first, then the world will attract the necessary resources and elements to you. What skills? Understand technology – it’s mandatory at this point, it can open up an entire new reality not made of atomic substances but bytes and bits.

If technology is not your main staple, that’s okay, you can level up by learning a vocational skill such as electrician, plumbing, painting, etc.

The thing is persons who are successful or who are on the path to success don’t like to be around losers. It’s a fact. They are a burden and when you are climbing a mountain, you want as little dead weight as possible.

You want to be around persons who are responsible and got their stuff together. Persons with who you can bounce ideas off of and share experiences with. You are often alone in this world and the higher you go, the more apparent this becomes.

Fortune Favors The Brave

If you are born with nothing and still have nothing. You got to make swings, you got to get to the crease and swing for the roof. Risk is important especially if you don’t have much to lose. You would be amazed how much you can achieve if you make a swing for the fences.

Everything entails risk, the key players behind this company are taking a risk and it might all fall to the wayside and become nothing. But who cares, at least we tried and never sit back wondering what if we did try.

Experiments are important and don’t be afraid to take them. If you are at a dead-end job and you want to level up, you can either sit back and enjoy the dreaded grind or take a risk. Start a side business, relocate and start fresh, learn a skill – just do something that adds value to your life and never stay static.

Focus On What You Can Control

You personally cannot control who the political leaders are unless your one single vote determines who the winner should be which is rare. You don’t control the economy; the economy is complex and a lot of variables are involved.

Not even how and where you were born you can control. What you can control though is the information you absorb, the food you eat, friends you have, focus, etc. An important part of success is actually about optimizing what you can control.

If you can optimize your diet, focus, relationships, information, and many other day to day variables that affect us, you can change your reality. Stop worrying about large challenges for now until you have enough power and resources to change them. For example, you cannot stop crime as a whole.

The best you can do is practice safety measures only you can control: don’t live in volatile environments, don’t overdress in public and wear expensive clothing, don’t talk about your wealth with others, not even your family, etc.

Keep that strictly between you and your accountant and business associates whom you trust. If you can control these variables, it cannot stop the impact of crime on you, but it can reduce it a lot.

Stop Caring About What Others Say

People will talk a lot especially when you are leveling up, you cannot please them. I have shaved off a lot of friends and families. It was brutal but necessary, in life our situations are different which requires pragmatic trade-offs.

Persons will comment on everything you do and likely drown out your inner voice and intuition which is lacking in our copycat matrix. If you are playing video games all day and watching television, they will question your work ethic.

If you work too hard, they might question your obsessiveness. You cannot please them; you only can please yourself by doing meaningful work. Oftentimes conventional wisdom offered by others can harm you.

Contrarian Often Pays

Similar to the topic below, it can pay off pretty nicely if you become a contrarian. Don’t be afraid to hold views that are not of the norm. It’s often contrarians who change history and the masses are there to build it.

The contrarian creates the vision and the masses just live in it. For example, look at automobiles, persons weren’t looking for an automobile, they wanted a faster and stronger horse, as that was the most common transportation at that time.

Henry Ford and other innovators at the time changed that. The internet is another example, it was as if it fell from space. Persons never predicted the connected and online world we have today. It just happened by contrarians.

As a contrarian, you are going to hear a lot of naysayers who don’t have an idea of what you are doing, commenting as if they are experts (dunning kruger effect). Don’t let that deter you.

Join The Elite And Do The Opposite

Persons often attack the elite for not helping out our society more. I used to follow this path when I was younger. That is the wrong mindset to have. Why not instead become rich and do the opposite of the elite?

Be a contrarian and forge your establishment that can push society forward. That’s the path we are going to take. If you need a better education system, why not become a politician and change that.

If you need more businesses within this country, why not become rich and share the wealth by investing in more small businesses. This will then create a positive feedback loop and will help the economy.

Just focus on what you can control, become elite and make the change. This will challenge you to level up.

It’s Not A Given

As I have said at the beginning of this article, the world is unfair and things don’t often work out. You might do all the right things and still fail; success is never a given. It’s not about following rules as rules come and go. It’s about being fluid enough to adapt to changes.

If you fail while on your path to a goal, it will change you forever. If you start a business, had some success and then fail, it will change you.

The person you become in the process and the skills you gathered along the way, will turn you into another being. You only need to be right once in order to succeed and build generational wealth.

Life is always a numbers game, if you are applying for a job, don’t stop at 10 applications, send in 100 and then a 1000. Ensure you are tracking and iterating. If you fail at a business, try again at another one and use the lessons learned.

Everything should be viewed in terms of bets, what are the odds of being successful. Sometimes you are going to have to put all your chips on the table. Other times you are going to have to strategize and be methodical. Success if everything, there is no set rule.

In closing, you just got to attack and never leave any stone untouched. An unfair world, allows you to respect the process. Imagine if everything was easy, we would’ve been worse off as a civilization. There wouldn’t be any challenges to overcome and suffering to endure.

Life is unfair and this is not going to change or get any easier. No one or anything is coming to save you. You just have to adapt or die, choosing either one of those poisons, as the path is not easy if you are going to travel on either path.

Tim Stokely steps down as OnlyFans CEO

1

Tim Stokely, the CEO of the controversial social media platform OnlyFans will step down as CEO and allow Ami Gan to take over. Ami Gan is the company’s head of communications and marketing.

This is not surprising given the amount of scrutiny the company came under the last year. It is basically looked upon as a legally acting porn social media website.

It also goes way beyond that, as it has often been scrutinized for the number of sex workers that are on the platform. OnlyFans tried to clean up their image by banning not-safe-for-work (NSFW) content. That ban was short-lived as they crumbled under immense pressure from their user base.

OnlyFans is caught in a dilemma, where on one end they can in fact clean up their image. A move such as this could allow them to take a hit due to the very nature of their platform.

This could lead to an existential crisis if this reality becomes true. On the other hand, they need to find a way on how they can integrate what made them a part of their business strategy.

It’s a pretty difficult task to tackle, given the fact that in 2021, the company is on the path to generating $2.5 billion in revenue. OnlyFans claim that they only took 20% of the earnings. It would be catastrophic to stop that gravy train now.

It’s only a matter of time before they get additional pressure from congress. If not, we will most likely see an easing of the rules to allow OnlyFans to operate free and openly.

China’s bitcoin miners go underground

0

The rise of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has prompted the greatest push yet among central banks to develop their own digital currencies. Photographer: Andrey Rudakov/Bloomberg via Getty Images

At one point in time, China was leading the world in bitcoin innovation. When most of the world was discrediting the technology, China adopted it. It was being experimented with by entrepreneurs and greedy investors who wanted a piece of the buy.

This fostered an ecosystem of bitcoin miners, probably the largest in the world. Miners raked in bitcoins and everyone seemed to be happy.

Over the last 2 years, things turned for the worst and in 2021 the inevitable had taken place. The Chinese government decided to get rid of anything cryptocurrency within the nation.

They went on an agenda to wipe out mining farms. Some of these farms had taken hundreds of thousands and often millions of dollars to build.

They created laws to ban cryptocurrency trading and other financial activity which included cryptocurrency. This onslaught never started with cryptocurrencies, it spilled over the entire technology industry.

It’s a move that we have yet to see the grand vision behind. I am sure the government is taking its time to carefully unveil a plan.

Innovate or Die

Despite China’s powerful system of control, they still haven’t controlled the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem. In fact, they have allowed the bitcoin miners to adapt quickly and push the operations underground. It’s a risky move, but everything within the cryptocurrency space is risky.

Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC) covered an article on the topic of the entire operation of China’s crypto miners. It is reported that 20% of the world’s bitcoin miners are still within China. Ben, a Chinese miner which was interviewed by CNBC, told them he had gone completely off the radar and pushed operations underground.

He cheekily spreads his mining operations across different locations to avoid getting caught using power on the grid at a centralized location. Also, he took careful action to hide his digital geographical information by going behind the meter and getting electricity from small power sources.

This goes to show the lengths that persons will go to in order to keep their crypto dream alive.

Diminishing Returns

Despite going through all those loopholes to mine cryptocurrencies, it’s still not seen as profitable anymore within China. Most of the largescale miners have jumped ship to other countries which might act as a safe haven for now such as the US.

The smaller ones, who never had the resources to move overseas are only using the local Chinese mining farms to make enough money to move overseas.

It’s a risky business, but in this world of uncertainty, taking a risk on something is better than taking no risk at all.
