Google enters AI race with a stream of new updates to be released

Google is currently working on a list of AI tools to be released over the upcoming months. These tools are seen to be a countermove to competitors like Microsoft which is currently integrating AI tools across its products. Information about these products has been sparse but they are being developed under the codename “Magi”.

Analysts are looking for major changes to Google Chrome which will have an integrated chatbot similar to how Microsoft’s Bing is integrating the ChatGPT and other tools coming from OpenAI which is an AI research company they have been pouring billions into over the years and even more so recently.

Google is now being forced to pivot drastically in this new direction due to the fact that sophisticated chatbots are now becoming popular. Analysts are also looking at the fact of how impactful these tools will be for Google. ChatGPT became the fastest-rising internet product in a matter of months. Can Google compete with such technology given the current network effects it has?

This a major question, additionally, ChatGPT is a direct threat to Google’s bottom line. Users who use the tool don’t have to do many Google searches which will have a major impact on ad revenue. It would be interesting to see how Google will compete, if they compete directly, they would have to rethink their entire approach to monetization.

Regardless, competition is good for everyone because it will force competitors to create better products.
